Finding Identity
I have always loved culture and art. My mother is a social and cultural lecturer at Udayana University, my father is an archeologist and many of my family members are traditional Balinese dancers, so these things have been a major part of my family life and upbringing. It’s through photography that I have been able to step into these worlds and seriously use it as a medium to better understand the daily life and ritual of my people and how it’s related to how we perform ‘bhakti’ – the worship of our ancestors – and to better articulate and express my personal thoughts.
